How it works
Thank you for your interest in Urban Harvest Organic Delivery! We've tried to anticipate and answer some of your questions below. Click on a question below and the answer will appear! If you do have other questions, please CONTACT US for more info!
What can I expect in the Harvest Box each week?
Our Harvest Box changes weekly and seasonally, but you will always receive a balance of fruits and vegetables, including a mix of roots, greens, and other veggies. Produce is purchased as close to home as possible. In order to provide year-round quality and service, we will also purchase from suppliers distributing certified organic imported produce. Freshness and quality are guaranteed - if you ever receive items which are not to your satisfaction, we encourage you to contact us for a replacement item or credit!
We encourage you to customize your order as much as you like to ensure that you receive exactly what you need (and none of what you don't need) in each order! That said, we also love to support you in choosing local items as much as possible, and when this means trying items that are new to you or not your usual favourites, our recipes and preparation suggestions can help to get you started!
How do I customize my box?
Each Thursday afternoon, we update our website with the upcoming week's produce selections. We plan a standard Regular Harvest Box and Family Harvest Box selection, and you can then customize this selection by deleting, substituting, and adding items to your order.
Saturday is our preferred cut-off day for orders. However, later orders can also be received until noon on Monday for Tues/Wed customers, and until noon on Tuesday for Thursday customers.
How much will it cost?
Our Regular Harvest Box, at $35, is designed to feed 2-4 people (or one hungry vegetarian!) for one week. The Family Harvest Box, at $45, will feed 4-6 people, or more, depending on appetites! If your household is small or veggie-shy, you may wish to share a box with a friend or family member, or request bi-weekly or "flex" (per-order) service. There is no separate charge for delivery.
If you request add-ons, including extra produce, to your order, this will be reflected in the total shown on your web order. Or, if you request fewer items than our full Harvest Box – keeping in mind that we prefer a minimum of 14 stars per order – you will see that you have extra stars available to use toward a future order. This can be helpful for weeks when you need a little less… and the stars can be saved for a week when you need a little more!
How will the delivery schedule fit into my lifestyle?
We offer three different types of delivery schedules:
Weekly: You receive a delivery every week UNLESS you contact us to cancel for the week. (even if you forget to send in an Internet order). To cancel an order, simply log in and use the "Cancel Order" button.
Biweekly: You receive a delivery every second week (even if you forget to send in an Internet order), UNLESS you contact us to cancel for the week or to add an extra order, in which case we reschedule your next delivery for 2 weeks from the latest delivery.
Flex: You set your own schedule by sending an Internet order for the weeks when you choose to receive a delivery. This option works well for people with sporadic schedules, as you do not need to worry about remembering to cancel for weeks when you do not wish to receive a box.
Deliveries are made between 9am and 9pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, depending on where you are located.

You DO NOT need to be home to receive your delivery, as your produce arrives in a sealed Rubbermaid bin to help protect it from the elements. Simply leave last week's bin out in the morning with this week's payment (in a pre-specified location) ... and enjoy your new Harvest Box!
What if I'm a kitchen neophyte? Will I be overwhelmed with my weekly bounty of fruits & veggies?!
We hope not ... and it's about time you started eating yer veggies! Scolding aside, we aim to be a source of information and support for those who are new to cooking, nutrition, and understanding food issues. You'll receive our short & sweet "Harvest Herald" in each box, with produce tips, articles, recipes, and newsy items designed to inform and inspire! And feel free to contact us for extra recipe suggestions, if you do not find what you need in the newsletter! (Note: We also have a growing "Recipes" archive on our website, for your reference.) If you find that you are not using all the produce in each week's box, we encourage you to try bi-weekly or "flex" service before giving up all together!
