A great way to prepare a quick and delicious meal is to use a skillet. Skillet-meals are convenient because they generally don’t take very long to prepare, and having a meal cooked in one pan leads to less dishes – always a bonus in a busy household! There are many prepared skillet meals available in the grocery store, but why spend the money on them when we can prepare our own skillet meals quickly and easily at home.

One important tip for preparing skillet meals: avoid excess oil. Oil, no matter what kind, is high in fat and calories. Although some oils are better for our health than others, when it comes to fat content, they are all very similar (except for the “light” varieties). For example, one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil contains 12.8 grams of fat. While oil helps to distribute the heat evenly while we are cooking and helps to prevent our food from sticking to the pan, we often don’t need to use as much as many recipes call for. If you are weight and health-conscious, adjust your recipes accordingly.
