Also known as garlic serpents, garlic scapes, garlic tips, and probably many other names too...these are the growing tip of the garlic plant, which farmers pinch off to allow the plant's energy to focus on growing the bulb. The bonus is that they are also very tasty, edible, and unique culinary treats themselves!

Wondering what to do with garlic curls? Here are some very simple ideas:

1) If you're short on time or creativity, they make a quick garlic substitute (no peeling or mincing - just rinse and dice them!)

2) Feature them in a recipe, by thinly slicing them horizontally, and adding them at the saute stage to omelettes, stir-fries, etc.

3) Make a quick pasta by tossing steaming hot fresh penne or linguine with extra virgin olive oil, freshly chopped basil and/or oregano, freshly grated parmesan, spinach chopped into ribbons, chopped Roma tomatoes, and sauteed garlic curl slivers.
