Garlic Scapes (click for ideas!)

Garlic curls are the growing tip of the garlic plant. They carry all the flavour of garlic, but can be used as a vegetable as well as a seasoning!

First off, you should know that garlic scapes make a mean pesto sauce! Simply toss them in your food processor with some olive oil, walnuts or pine nuts, parmesan, fresh lemon juice, and sea salt and black pepper to taste, and you've got a sauce that's great on fish, eggs, pasta, chicken, flatbread, and many more venues!

Garlic scapes can also be grilled like asparagus - just toss them (or paint them) with a bit of olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper, and pop 'em on the grill!

They are great in stir fries too, or very finely chopped into salads if you're brave with that raw garlic flavour!
