Community Gardens Newsletter Update
Added on November 4, 2009
Did you know that the Central Okanagan is home to a vibrant and growing community garden network? There are now community gardens on the Westside, in Rutland, in Winfield, in downtown Kelowna, in the Springfield area, and in Glenmore, as well as at least one school garden (at Glenmore Elementary). In addition, there are housing developments creating space for residents to have garden space, as well as organizations and institutions creating garden spaces for their clients. People are discovering the joy of growing food in a community setting (and those who have not previously had access to their own land to grow food are now able to do so)! If you would like to get involved as a gardener, if you have time to volunteer or materials to donate or if you are just curious to read more about what is happening in the community garden scene , please let us know, and we would be happy to forward the most recent e-newsletter of the Central Okanagan Community Garden Society.
