A guide detailing some produce pesticide loads
Added on June 8, 2007
The Environmental Working Group publishes a Shoppers Guide (www.foodnews.org), and lists the following conventional (non-organic) produce items (in order) as testing highest in terms of pesticide loads. Do keep in mind that this information comes from data collected in the U.S. between 2000 and 2004, so may vary for produce coming from other places (including local produce): 1) peaches 2) apples 3) sweet bell peppers 4) celery 5) nectarines 6) strawberries 7) cherries 8) pears 9) grapes 10) spinach
