UPDATE: POSITION FILLED!

***

Hi Urban Harvest community!

We have an important role to fill at the warehouse, so we are reaching out to our community first - we've always had great luck finding team members from within!

We are seeking a new Tues-Thurs Warehouse Assistant, to help pack Harvest Box orders with care, and to assist with all aspects of warehouse operations, from receiving orders to maintaining a clean working environment.

Andy will be moving on in November, so we are looking to hire as soon as possible to allow for training and role mentoring while we still have him! :)

Our ideal team player brings the following:

*Positive attitude + friendly team approach.
*Interest in organic and local food.
*Physical work experience - eg restaurant, farm, warehouse, garden centre, bakery, brewery, tree planting, produce/grocery store, etc.
*Strong back and healthy joints, with the ability to regularly lift/carry 40-50lb boxes and be on feet without strain. You have a regular self-care practice and know how to take care of your body to avoid injury/strain.
*Efficiency/movement economy.
*Accuracy/focus/detail-orientation.
*Availability to work EVERY Tues-Thurs 7am to 3pm (end time may be as early as noon some days; start time may be as early as 6:30am in the summer)
*Morning person with reliable transportation and strong health habits! You will often be working solo for the first hour, so we need you to be able to consistently show up on time and ready to work, even on dark + snowy winter mornings!
*Min 1 year commitment. Please let us know in your cover letter if you have any prior travel/work/education commitments, so these can be taken into consideration in advance of hiring.

We offer:

*Work that feels good. An opportunity to be an important link in our local food system, working alongside a team that truly cares about serving our community.
*A casual work environment where you don't need to dress up for work! (Warm layers work best...we recommend thrifting if you don't already have a stash of warehouse-appropriate clothes!)
*Movement on the job. Lots of walking and a mix of light and heavy lifting = functional fitness!
*A weekly organic produce bonus + staff discounts on non-produce items.
*Convenient downtown/north end location close to the Rail Trail and the #2 or #5 bus routes (perfect for bike or bus commuting if you prefer to go car-free, as long as you plan ahead to arrive on time)!
*Wednesday staff lunches (homemade, organic, veggie-based)!
*Consistent mid-week hours that leave you ample time for weekend/evening employment, self-employment, parenting, art, music, online classes, 4-day weekend getaways, or whatever other pursuits you may have on the go!
*$19-20/hr starting wage (dep on exp)
*Extended health/dental benefits after 3 months (employer-paid premiums) + 2% annual health/wellness discretionary bonus (available after the end of each calendar year, based on previous year's gross wages).
