Food Security Program Volunteer Opportunity!

Living Positive Resource Centre is looking for Food Security Program volunteers. We are a non-profit organization that provides support, education, prevention with a focus on wellness, to individuals who are living with, affected by, or at risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections.

Living Positive Resource Centre recognizes the value and dignity of each individual. We encourage and support our clients to make healthy choices, and we respect the choices that they make. We work with, and on behalf of, our clients to improve their quality of life. We believe that all individuals deserve equity in accessibility. We collaborate with community partners and actively participate in community efforts to ensure that basic human rights are protected.

Our Food Security Program operates on the premise that everyone deserves reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. Persons with immune compromising illnesses benefit significantly from the sustenance that a balanced and healthy diet provides. Our program currently has over 100 registered recipients with 15-20 different individuals accessing donations of boost, fruits and vegetables from our center weekly.

Our Food Security/Nutrition Program volunteers are responsible for picking up fresh fruit and vegetables from our community partner, Urban Harvest, and delivering the product to the offices of Living Positive Resource Centre.

HOURS: 12:45 pm – 2:00 pm Saturdays

RESPONSIBILITIES
• pick up and deliver fruit and vegetable donations
• key holder for the organization
• ability to commit to 1 – 1.5 hours of regular volunteering weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Vehicle required
• Passionate about volunteering and food security.
• Bondable
• Clear criminal record check
• Ability to work independently
